Emmas Dance (Neuheit Tuba) Emmas Dance was composed during the summer of 1994 for tubist Scott Mendoker to celebrate the birth of Scott and Annie Mendokers daughter, Emma Rose. Rather than focusing on the joy and relief of birth itself, this work explores the emotional landscape preceding it—the struggle, fear, and doubts that accompany anticipation and uncertainty. The composition captures the emotional turbulence of this period, moving fluidly between moments of complete exhilaration and passages of deep concern. These contrasting emotional states create a dynamic musical narrative that reflects the complexity of human experience during significant life transitions.
