Festival Fanfare for Six-Part Tuba-Euphonium Ensemble Ben Miles (b. 1974) is the Associate Professor of Tuba at Middle Tennessee State University. Previously, he taught at Wright State University and the University of Central Arkansas. He received his degrees from Michigan State University, Penn State University, and the State University of New York, College at Fredonia. His principal tuba teachers include Phil Sinder, Marty Erickson, and C. Rudolph Emilson. While at Michigan State, Miles studied orchestration and composition with Jere Hutcheson. His compositions are known to tuba players across the world. Contraptions for Solo Tuba has appeared on the Leonard Falcone International Artist Tuba Competition, the 23rd International Competition “Città di Porcia,” as well as on many ITEC regional conference competition lists.
