Brasserie Royale (424.01.Percussion (Timpani, snare drum, bass drum, tubular bells, cymbals, vibraphone - 3 players) (Partitur) "It’s not every day that you get such an honorable and prestigious commission as that of the renowned brass section of the Concertgebouw Orchestra, with the world premiere in that same Concertgebouw, so I sat down and gave it a lot of thought. It had to be something with a ‘royal’ allure, a stately procession with resounding brass, supported by timpani and percussion, a typical opening work. I have been following the orchestra for decades, and know almost all of the musicians personally, so it really is ‘tailored’ to this fantastic ensemble. I hope that the work will be appreciated by musicians and audiences, and that it will become part of the regular repertoire"
