Choirs, orchestras, singers, dancers, extras, parades... make this month-long festival unforgettable for the large audience. In modern times, composers such as Jean Balissat and Jean-François Bovard have written music for the festival. In 1905, Gustave Doret was commissioned to do so. René Morax (who decades later wrote the lyrics for Honeggers King David) was the lyricist. In 1927, Doret added new numbers (lyrics by Pierre Girard). This arrangement is conceived as a suite. However, it is also possible to play individual numbers. The order can also be changed. Playing in a trio is strenuous it is also possible to double the instrumentation. A flugelhorn can be used alternately with the trumpet part.
