Concertino Details This concertino has been written with three different accompaniments for the same (Bb or C) solo trumpet part, thus offering three diverse performance opportunitie: 1) solo trumpet and chamber orchestra (flute, oboe, bassoon, horn, timpani, and strings). 2) solo trumpet and chamber wind ensemble (flute, oboe, clarinet, bassoon, horn in F, trumpet in Bb, trombone , bass-trombone, tuba and timpani). 3) solo trumpet and piano. The Concertino was commissioned by the CDMC (Conseil départemental pour la Musique et la Culture de Haute-Alsace) France and its director Philippe Pfisterer, with the intended purpose of adding an artistically accessible piece to the repertoire for solo trumpet (technical difficulty 4 on 6) . The piece begins in a very soft and mysterious mood, with alternating rhythmic and calm episodes leading to a lively final. Caroline Charrière, April 2011, Fribourg, Switzerland
