Revolutions (Tuba.Flöte) (Neuheit Tuba) Revolutions for flute and tuba, written in the summer of 2023, is a work commissioned by Art Mintaka Foundation for a special Copernican Concert marking the 550th anniversary of Nicolaus Copernicus’ birth. The title of the piece refers to the astronomer’s scientific theories; not to those concerning the motion of celestial bodies, but to a less-known theorem about circles. The sound material of the composition echoes the ideas of another Nicolas (namely, Nicolas Slonimsky, 1894-1995), whose Thesaurus of Scales and Melodic Patterns is an inexhaustible source of melodic inspiration.
